I am Captain Frank Breakell. I grew up here in southern New Jersey. I began fishing with my father when I was about five. So, I can honestly say, I have just over fifty years of experience fishing the waters in and around Cape May County. If it swims in our inshore waters, I have targeted it. I fish our local beaches for stripers in the Spring, kingfish, sharks, and much more, in the Summer and into the Fall. The bridges are my nighttime haunts, plying the waters for striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, and flounder. The sod banks and other areas hold the same. And of course, I run the back bays and inshore coastal waters from my boat whenever I can. I even hit the Delaware Bay now and again for drum, sharks, and other species.
When you hire me as your fishing guide, I work my butt off to put you on fish. I try every trick in my arsenal to get the most bites for you possible. I keep my boat immaculate, along with my gear. My goal each trip is to provide you with the best experience possible. Nobody should ever leave my boat, or walk off the beach, in a bad mood for any reason. Also, if the fishing sucks, or has been off lately, I'm going to let you know that ahead of time, and we can plan accordingly. I always base my trips on your desires. It's your adventure, I'm here to make it happen and meet your expectations, regardless of whether you are a beginner, or highly experienced angler. And for the record, children are always welcomed. I was a teacher of health and physical education for thirty years. I retired to concentrate on fishing, and my nonprofit, Hook, Line, and Warriors. And of course, to spend more time with my family.
As for the Brynnie-B II (my boat), she is a 2020 Cape Horn 22OS. A well-built, 22 foot, wide beamed (9’ wide) center console that can handle the seas when the need should arise. High gunnels, ample seating, and room under the console, make her a very comfortable boat to fish from with plenty of room for up to six passengers. There are two Simrad NSS Evo-3 12” fishfinder/plotters on the console with down scan and side scan, along with a Fusion stereo with SiriusXM radio and weather. A 24 mile radar adds an element of protection too. On the bow there is a Minnkota Riptide trolling motor to help with drifting and for holding us over wrecks and structure when targeting bottom dwelling fish. There are plenty of life jackets for everyone, including special vests for kids under the age of 12, and inflatables for anyone who likes a little extra safety. All of the required safety equipment is onboard and in good working order, including a personal location beacon.
For beach fishing (surf fishing) trips I have a top of the line cart to haul all of the necessary equipment down to the waters edge where I can set up sand spikes to hold the rods, or if you’d rather, you can hold a rod while waiting for a bite. This is a great way to introduce children to fishing. The action is usually quick with a variety of fish usually in the surf zone, and the majority are just the right size for kids to have fun. As a bonus, in the earlier Spring and later in the Fall, I can bring my two Frenchies along to help entertain the kids. For those looking to tangle with something more substantial, there are always sharks and large rays cruising through the waves. Just let me know, and we can target them too. It’s always fun!
